WHY IS WATER BAPTISM SO IMPORTANT?
Baptism is a public declaration of your personal commitment to follow christ and obey Him as Lord of your life. Water baptism is not a means for salvation but an act of faith and obedience after believing the gospel and turning to God.
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF WATER BAPTISM?
In the Bible, baptism shows the old life (a life of sin) being put away and a new life (committed to following Christ) emerging. In water baptism, we publicly profess our faith in Jesus, we personally identify with Christ’s death and resurrection, and we become a part of the community of Christ followers (the church).
WHO SHOULD BE WATER BAPTIZED?
If you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are ready to be baptized. Baptism is your opportunity to show others that you have decided to follow Christ. In Scripture, water baptism is an immediate response to repentance from sin and turning to God. As you study the Scriptures and observe the pattern modeled by the early church, you can determine if water baptism is the next right step for you. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
We recommend you wear some comfortable shorts and bring a towel. We will give you a T-shirt to wear during your baptism. Invite your friends and family to celebrate this special day with you!
WHAT IF MY CHILD WANTS TO BE WATER BAPTIZED?
We baptize children when they’re old enough to understand what it means to repent of their sins and turn to God, starting at eight years old.
